Our domestic horses usually have access to small areas which are over grazed and perhaps poached in winter. This creates soil imbalances which result in mineral deficiencies in the plants growing on the pasture. Many horses like ours live in a mini-world where the majority of their needs are met in a tiny geographical area. Not surprising then that they succumb eventually to these deficiencies by developing unhealthy hooves which cannot function without protection.
The effects of these imbalances are cumulative. Like a slow insidious disease overtime, without us hardly noticing, our horses hooves become weaker, their coats duller, their eyes a little lifeless until one day they are ill or broken.
We now have more answers to help us optimise the health of our horses and thus optimise their bare hoofed performance. Using analysis of grass or hay and haylage we can work out a supplement which fits your horse exactly. This will make their hooves stronger, make their coats shine, give them more stamina, add sparkle to their performance and bring that young horse health and vitality back into your veteran campaigner. The change in Fari since starting this bespoke system has been astounding. This year he is 16 yet he has never felt better, jumped higher or had hooves which work as well. Morris, who is 7 this year has already completed nearly 200 miles from April to June, riding 80 miles in North Yorkshire on a five day holiday, and then riding in fun rides and endurance rides each weekend.
Three years ago we asked the question
“Is hoof performance a barometer of horse health?”
Time and more research has supplied the answer
