We came to natural hoof-care through the injury of an endurance horse, Fari. In seeking an answer to his problems we looked with much skepticism into the barefoot movement. What we found astounded us. Since then, over a six year period, we have become committed to barefoot and natural hoof-care because we believe that unshod horses have a huge advantage in injury prevention and performance enhancement.
Performance Barefoot Ltd offer a full barefoot hoof-care service where we care holistically for your horse’s hooves. We give guidance on diet and environment and trim on a regular schedule. Where necessary we advise on the use of hoof boots so your horse is comfortable and you can carry on riding wherever and whenever you like. We use a non-invasive approach which assesses each individual hoof according to what it needs to improve performance without a metal shoe. We do not follow one trim method because we believe one method does not work on all horses and that diet, environment and exercise are the most powerful tools in our tool box. Using these tools we can develop your horse’s foot to its maximum performance capability. This will reduce the chance of injury and improve performance so you and your horse can have a happier life together.
Sarah Braithwaite of Performance Barefoot Ltd has trained with both Pete Ramey and Jaime Jackson and in the USA. She is a Certified Practitioner with the United Kingdom of Natural Hoof-care Practitioners (UKNHCP) but her education does not stop there. She continues to find answers and learn from all the leading barefoot educators in the world. Most of all however it is the horses in her care that continually teach her to listen to them, to work with them to create strong performance hooves which will carry them and their owners where ever they wish to go.

Sarah regularly competes her horses in a variety of disciplines from dressage to show jumping to endurance. Barefoot has made her a more adventurous rider and, with her Arabian horses, has challenged her to learn new skills and talents. So many people would ask can you jump barefoot that she decided to go jumping to find out. Now Fari and her are adventuring into the world of hunter trials and the odd one day event just to prove it can be done barefoot and on an Arab!
