Can I stable my barefoot horse and how will bare hooves cope with the environment here in the UK?
The three most important things to provide for your horse in the UK is the right diet, time for hooves to be out of the wet in a clean environment and as much movement and stimulus as possible.
That does not mean you cannot stable your horse but it does mean you need to exercise it lots and be fastidious about stable hygiene.
The horses pictured above live in North Wales in a very wet climate. They all have hard working bare hooves which survive 24 hour a day turn out but in a special environment built to encourage movement, dry hooves, the right kind of diet and abrasive terrain.
