Gypsy

Gypsy is a lovely Connemara cross pony who is owned and ridden by Sarah over miles and miles of the North Wales countryside.

Sarah asked Performance Barefoot to start taking care of Gypsy’s hooves in early 2005. Gypsy had been barefoot then for about five months and Sarah was using Old Mac hoof boots on Gypsy’s front hooves. Sarah found quite quickly after this that Gypsy no longer need the hoof boots and now they are gathering dust on a shelf in the tack room.
Gypsy’s hooves have gone from being very tender on concrete and gravel to the rock crunching mustang like form you see on this page today.

Sarah and Gypsy spend long hours in the saddle and do lots of road work. Sarah says she does just as much road work and stony forest tracks as she ever did with shoes on but now Gypsy never trips or slips. One day they plan to do the Man versus Horse Race!
