Making a Paddock Paradise 4
During the summer of 2006 the horses were living on a perimeter track around the edge of a seven acre field. The middle of field was harvested to provide forage for the next 12 months. We do not have a barn to store hay in so haylage was made by wrapping large round bales of dried grass in thin black plastic.

To ensure your hay contains the most nutritional value for your horses invest in the services of an organic soil analyst who can test your soil and then give you advice as to applications to correct imbalances which may affect the uptake of minerals.

The fact that the whole of the middle area is unused by the horses means it stays green and attractive to the eye. It can also be used for riding in and makes a great jump arena once the haylage has been cut.
