Well interestingly Morris is now back to normal hoof soundness and performance. That means it took only a few days off full time spring grass to correct the soreness he was feeling. We continue to be astounded that he could become affected so quickly, however we are not very keen to repeat the conditions just to see if our theory that spring grass was the cause is correct.
Dave showed Sarah where Morris was at with his training and we have to say that we are most impressed with Dave’s ability to get as much as he has done out an Arab who was a rather quirky and green individual when he went to be started. “He is more quirky than most” was Dave’s reply when Sarah just passed it off as young Arab behaviour. She watched him going through a variety of techniques to prepare Morris for being ridden including roping his fetlock to teach him to think about his feet, and holding on to his tail and flipping it from side to side to eliminate the fear he has had over his quarters being touched. She feels that she and Morris will hopefully get along fine as long as we take it slowly and continue with Dave’s excellent techniques. This weekend will prove however if she can manage. Part of Dave’s Horse Start clinic is a two day workshop with your new mount. Hopefully Dave, Sarah will manage!
